We all do it… We all spend some portion of our day surfing the internet for non-business related activity. Shopping, Facebooking, planning your night out – it doesn’t matter how you justify it to yourself, it has nothing to do with your job. BUT THERE IS A SILVER LINING. According to a report in the Toronto Star, shopping online should be viewed positively by your boss because it keeps you at your desk rather than long lunches at the mall, leaving work early or coming into work late. Wow… we can rationalize anything can’t we?
This does have implications for internet marketing and more specifically pay-per-click advertising. According to the article (and backed up by Analytics data that I see) there are a lot of purchases made online around noon. Why not used the advanced bidding feature on your Google PPC account and raise your bids 20% for that hour?
